GOOD THINGS FROM ARABICA AND ROBUSTA COFFEE! WHAT'S TASTE DIFFERENCE?

Hi...coffee connoisseurs! maybe you are still unfamiliar with "what is arabica and robusta are", so this time I will explain the difference in the taste of arabica and robusta coffee.

1. Arabica Coffee

Arabica coffee is actually a type of coffee that originally came from Brazil and Ethiopia. This coffee grows in highland areas which are usually at an altitude of 700-1700 m above sea level. Why is this coffee called Arabica? At first, this type of coffee was brought by Arab traders to the lowlands, then they popularized the extract of Arabica coffee beans which is brewed with hot water as a refreshing drink.

This type of coffee is very susceptible to the attack of leaf rust disease, Hemileia vastatrix especially this plant is susceptible when planted in areas less than 700 meters. Because it is very important for those who grow this plant because it needs to be seen from the point of view of the procedure for its care and empowerment. That is what makes Arabica coffee more expensive than Robusta coffee.

In Indonesia, we can find this type of coffee in plantations in the mountainous areas of Troja, North Sumatra, Aceh, and some in Java.

What does Arabica coffee taste like?

The taste of Arabica coffee has a unique taste where this type of coffee has a high level of acidity but is light when we drink it. A cup of Arabica coffee can be described as aromatic and rich in flavor because this type of coffee has 2 times higher sugar content than robust coffee. So if you like coffee that is sweeter and has a unique acidity, this is the solution.

2. Robusta Coffee

"Coffea Canephora" is the Latin name for Robusta Coffee, this species originally came from the highlands of Ethiopia which also grows in parts of Central Africa and West Africa. Then this species was only known as the coffee species after 1987.

This plant generally grows in areas with an altitude of 400-800 meters below sea level, so this plant can grow in lowlands and is able to grow in hotter weather. Then in Indonesia, itself is one of the largest producers of Robusta coffee. Whereas Indonesia currently occupies the 4th position of robusta producing countries after Brazil, Vietnam, and Colombia. With this, we can find this type of coffee in the provinces of Lampung and South Sumatra which are capable of producing large quantities of Robusta beans.

What does Robusta Coffee taste like?

Generally, the taste of Robusta coffee is dark with characters such as wood and rubber. One of the things that causes its bitterness in Robusta coffee is the caffeine. Why is that? Because the content in Robusta coffee is higher than Arabica. So if you like coffee that is more bitter, robusta is the solution.

Alright I think that's all about taste of Arabica and Robusta Coffee, you can choose your own. Hopefully this information is useful and can be used when hanging out at coffee shops.
